Last updated: April 2026  ·  Effective: April 2026

Plain language summary: The free tier of Frametra runs entirely in your browser — no article content ever leaves your device. Paid-tier AI analysis sends article text to Anthropic's API for processing. We do not sell your data, track your browsing, or store article content.

1. Who we are

Frametra Technologies Inc. is a federally incorporated Canadian company based in London, Ontario. We operate the Chrome extension "Frametra" and the websites frametra.com and frametra.ca. References to "we", "us", or "Frametra" in this policy refer to Frametra Technologies Inc.

2. What data we collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to provide our service:

  • Account data: Email address and billing information when you subscribe to a paid plan (processed by Stripe — we do not store card details).
  • Usage data: Anonymous, aggregated statistics about feature usage (e.g., how many scans are run per day). This contains no personally identifiable information.
  • Support data: Information you voluntarily provide when contacting us (e.g., email correspondence).
  • Subscription keys: Your Pro access key is stored locally in your browser's extension storage. We maintain a server-side record of issued keys for verification purposes only.

3. What data we do NOT collect

  • Your browsing history or the URLs of articles you analyze
  • Article content analyzed in the free (heuristic) tier — this runs entirely locally
  • Your name, location, or demographics (unless voluntarily provided)
  • Device identifiers, IP addresses (beyond standard server logs), or tracking cookies

4. AI analysis data (paid tier)

When you run a Deep AI Analysis (Writer Pro or Investigator Pro), the text content of the article you are analyzing is sent to the Anthropic API for processing. This text is used solely to generate the structural analysis and is not stored by Frametra. Please review Anthropic's Privacy Policy at anthropic.com for information on how they handle API data.

5. How we use your data

  • To process and manage your subscription (via Stripe)
  • To deliver your Pro access key and verify subscription status
  • To respond to support requests
  • To send transactional emails (receipts, key delivery, renewal notices) — not marketing without consent
  • To improve the product through aggregated, anonymous usage analytics

6. Data sharing and third parties

We do not sell your data. We share data only with:

  • Stripe: Payment processing. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant. See stripe.com/privacy.
  • Anthropic: Article text for paid-tier AI analysis only. See anthropic.com/privacy.
  • Email provider: Transactional email delivery (e.g., key delivery, receipts).

All third-party processors are bound by data processing agreements consistent with applicable privacy law.

7. Your rights (PIPEDA / GDPR)

As a Canadian company serving global users, we comply with Canada's PIPEDA and, where applicable, the EU GDPR. You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to processing
  • Data portability (receive your data in a structured format)

To exercise any right, email privacy@frametra.com. We respond within 30 days.

8. Data retention

We retain billing records for 7 years as required by Canadian tax law. All other personal data is deleted within 90 days of account termination upon request.

9. Cookies

Our website uses only essential cookies required for the payment flow. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics that identify individual users. See our Cookie Policy.

10. Children

Frametra is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Educational institutions deploying Frametra are responsible for compliance with applicable laws (COPPA, PIPEDA minor provisions) in their jurisdictions.

11. Changes to this policy

We will notify paid subscribers by email of material changes. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
